Visited the temple of Isis at Philae near Aswan, Egypt this morning. The temple was on an island so we took a boat.
Also went on the Aswan High Dam, a huge dam across the Nile that has stopped the annual flooding. It was built during the 1960’s with a lot of help from the Soviet Union.
Stopping the flooding hasn’t all been good. The flooding brought fertile soil to aid agriculture. Lake Nasser behind the dam looks like a sea.
Went out in a felluca, an Egyptian sailboat, this afternoon on the Nile. Without a motor it was peaceful yet still fast enough. The two guys are crew.
Show time on the Tulip, the name of our tour group’s boat docked in Aswan.
