September 5, 2022 – Athens, Greece

Visited the Acropolis early this afternoon. Temples, sanctuaries, two amphitheaters, alters, and more buildings.

What great history was made in this area. I’ve done some reading to review what the ancient Greeks accomplished but I need to do more.

One great thing Americans have done is add arms to statues. Okay, it might not have been an American idea.

.

Walked to the Ancient Agora, the area where social gatherings were held in ancient Athens. It also had market stalls and some civic buildings. Not much is left standing.

The little church was built to commemorate St Paul who preached at the agora.

Greek food is good stuff. If I had to eat only one cuisine on earth it would probably be Greek or Japanese.

Had dinner at a small restaurant on a one lane street near the Ancient Agora. Had cheese pie, a chicken dish, bread, Greek red wine, and orange cake. Came to 16.50 euros or about $16.50.
