After dinner, took Metro line 9 to the Trocadero stop. It was close to the Eiffel Tower which was quite a sight all lit up. I walked across a bridge over the Seine to get closer, taking pictures, probably too many.
Walked east along the Seine to a Metro stop Albane suggested. Near that stop is another nice bridge to shoot photos from. While I was on the bridge the tower went into a sparkling lights mode which was really cool.
Took line 8 back to near my Airbnb. France is playing Morocco in a World Cup semifinal and the bars and restaurants I passed along the way were crowded with fans watching the game on large screen TVs.
France was winning 1-0 when I stopped for a minute to watch the game through the window of one place. Lots of people were outside looking through the big windows because there was no more room inside any of the bars and restaurants.
People erupted with cheers and shouts when France scored again. I’m glad I’m here during this game. It’s a BIG deal.
