Took a minibus from Samana to Las Galeras, an hour ride. The minibus was smaller than a regular sized van. It held 14 passengers and it was full. It cost 200 Dominican pesos or less than $4.
Grabbed lunch at a little restaurant on the main road in Las Galeras. That was 500 pesos or about $9. The food was good. Had grilled chicken. I was joined for lunch by my new dog friend who I’ll call Rico. I don’t know why.
Had quite a time finding the Airbnb. It took an hour with a guy giving me a ride on the back of his motorbike. He didn’t know where the place was so we stopped about a half dozen times to ask people. No body had a clue but I contacted the lady at the place and she talked to the guy and sent directions via the WhatsApp app.
The reason the place was so hard to find was because properties didn’t have street numbers, just names. I either missed that in the directions for the Airbnb or it wasn’t in the directions.
Eventually we found it. I gave the guy $20. He deserved it. He hadn’t asked for anything but I wasn’t going to let him leave without giving him something.
