April 23, 2025 – Another Training Day

Trying to get in better walking shape so I can enjoy 40 miles of the Hadrian’s Wall Path in northern England. That’s coming up in two weeks. I’ll walk the middle section of the Wall Path in four days, making my way from inn to inn. Should be an interesting walk.

The wall was built by the Romans around 122 AD. It stretched from one side of what is now northern England to the other, from sea to sea, 84 miles. It is composed of the wall, a big ditch, berms bordering the ditch and many forts and small forts, or structures for soldiers. It took six years to complete.

So, to prepare, I’ve been increasing the distance of the dog walks. Yesterday, walked down a trail to an old cistern and then back. The total distance was about 4.1 miles. I don’t know any details about the cistern. Wish I did.

If you’ve done the Wall Path leave me some tips in a comment. Thanks.
