May 7, 2025 – Newcastle to Carlisle, England

My friend Lee drove me across the country to Carlisle where I will start walking the middle section of Hadrian’s Wall Path tomorrow morning.

My walk will be 40 miles in four days, from inn to inn and visiting the historic Roman wall remains. The Wall was built around 122 AD.

The wall was the largest building project the Romans ever undertook. It spanned Great Britain from sea to sea, 84 miles of wall, forts, deep ditches, parallel road and supporting infrastructure.

Along the way to Carlisle we stopped at a few historical sites. I’m learning a lot more history of this island from Lee, museums and sites here and there. Interesting stuff but don’t quiz me yet.

Cheers
