May 17, 2025 – Newcastle Upon-Tyne, England

Yesterday, returned to Newcastle by train from Whitby. Took about two and half hours.

Today, my buddy, Lee, and I took the train south to Durham where there’s a massive cathedral. It was built starting in the 900s AD. So, it’s almost as old as dirt. Such a pleasure to visit it and the nice, university town.

Earlier we, along with Lee’s wife, Helen, drove to the ancestral home of George Washington in the village of Washington.

Very interesting to see where Washington’s great, greats were from and to learn the links between Britain and early America.

Cheers
