Flew to Budapest in two flights from Newcastle today. Took the express bus 25 minutes from the airport to the city center for $6.14.
Then, used the Metro like a lost American clown. My Hungarian ain’t good. Many people speak English but place names are in Hungarian.
After the Metro, which I got off too early, used a Bolt taxi to get to within 50m of my Airbnb. Bolts can be ordered online like an Uber but I just found one parked and knocked on the window.
The Airbnb is small but nice and it’s in the old city center. And, it’s cheaper than a hotel, comes with a kitchen and washer.
Looked for a Hungarian restaurant at 10 PM but ran across a hole-in-the-wall Indian takeaway restaurant first. Tasty lamb curry over rice with a Hungarian beer.
This looks like a really cool city to explore.
Cheers
