September 20, 2022 – Istanbul, Turkey

Flew from Dubrovnik, Croatia to Istanbul this morning. Staying at a family run Guesthouse not far from the Blue Mosque. The place has 15 rooms, a nice terrace, comes with breakfast and bottled water.

I upgraded to a sea view room. I have a good view of the Sea of Marmara and the Asian side of Istanbul. The Sea of Marmara is part of the Mediterranean. The Sea is connected to the Med by a channel.

The guy at the front desk gave me a good recommendation for dinner. The restaurant is Turgut, a short walk from here. I’ll try it later.

Took a two hour boat tour on the Bosphorus. Went along the shore of Istanbul and then north past two huge bridges.

Istanbul is a city in Asia and in Europe. The city is hectic, as busy as a bee hive, and very historic.

Had dinner at a little Turkish restaurant a short walk from the family run guesthouse I’m staying at. I didn’t know how much food a dish was so a lot of food showed up. I couldn’t finish it.

This is a salad and their mixed kababs. Best meal I’ve had on this trip. It was really good and the bill was $23.42.

It’s great to be in Istanbul.
