Took a bus and a train from Dingle to Cork. Five hours, about $40. Pretty countryside the whole way.
Didn’t know what to expect for Cork but the central part is pretty cool. Cork is one of the oldest cities in Ireland. There’s a park that has remnants of a Medieval wall, complete with a couple of rats.
Rats carried fleas which carried the bacterium causing bubonic plague also known as The Black Death.
That plague killed millions of Europeans in the middle ages, maybe up to half the population. It makes Covid look like a sneeze.
Staying at an Airbnb hosted by a guy originally from Germany and his partner, Anna. She’s from Poland. They’ve been friendly and fun to talk to.
