Flew to Dubai today. It’s a hot and humid place even at night. Reminds me of Nicaragua in that regard.
Found a shop near my little hotel that sold shawarma, a burito-like wrap. Very tasty. Cost 5 Emirati dirham or $1.36.
The Dubai Airport is large, super clean and looks shiny and new. A lot in Dubai is shiny and new.
Dubai was just a fishing village before oil was discovered in the 60’s. I’m staying in the old part of Dubai near Dubai Creek which is a tidal creek or inlet from the Persian Gulf.
I’ll be here for three days and then join a tour next week to see parts of five central Asian countries starting in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Should be very interesting.
