Kingstown is dead on Sundays. I was told that yesterday, Saturday, by a local and it’s true. A supermarket is open, fortunately. What they call buses here are mini vans and they operate like in Grenada. But, on Sundays there are fewer tearing down the roads.
So, walked to a taxi stand near the government building and got a guy to take me north twelve miles along the Leeward coast to Wallilabou Bay. The bay is very scenic and was used as a location in the movie, Pirates of the Caribbean, the Black Pearl. Some of the set props are still there, tourist attractions now.
Not much happening in the area so it was back to Kingstown along the hilly, curvy road.
Walked to that open supermarket and bought food to cook for dinner because no restaurants will be open in town today.
But, it’s a sunny, pleasant afternoon, great for sitting outside and reading. Started reading Conquering the North by John Man. It’s about the back and forth struggles of the Mongolians with their neighbors, Russia and China. Seems like a good book.
