Used the taxi driver I used yesterday to drive to Scotts Head at the southern end of Dominica. Scotts Head is a peninsula with a hill at the end. There was a British fort there at one time but today there’s one canon for show.
I walked to the top of the hill. On one side of the peninsula is the Caribbean and on the other, the rougher Atlantic Ocean with pounding waves. The island of Martinique is barely visible to the south, disguised by clouds. But, today is a beautiful day in Dominica and the sea is calm.
My driver was only going to take me to Scotts Head but since I would need a ride back to Roseau he decided he would hang around instead of driving back to Roseau and then me probably calling him later for a ride. It worked out for both of us.
After Scotts Head, drove back north to Soufriere where I rented snorkeling gear and went out looking at fishes, corals and other sea life. Saw almost everything I saw when I snorkeled in St Lucia and saw a small Spotted eel.
Also, one interesting thing was that in some areas of my swim, bubbles came up from the bottom. The bubbles are caused by the still active volcanic activity here. The water in the area is also warmer.
Then, it was back to Roseau. As we were headed back some people were standing by the road and would appear to be waving the taxi down but my driver, Rene, would say something like, “I’m already hired.”
I thought, well that’s not good. I’m in no hurry. I told Rene he could stop and pick people up. So, he turned around and went back for people. We picked up three ladies at three different locations then turned around for Roseau.
Glad I got to go to Scotts Head and do more snorkeling at Soufriere.
Cheers
