oday, Lee Gilbert and I had a boat trip to a tidewater glacier scheduled but we were informed due to high winds the trip was canceled. So, we set off walking and ended up on top of a high hill overlooking Qaqortoq. Great view.
Walked down a steep, tricky path to the harbor area. The cold wind made my eyes water and whipped my hair. I could hardly see at times. But, made it.
Then, I went in the local museum while Lee killed time elsewhere. The museum had some interesting information about the local people and past ones, including the Norse (Vikings).
One of the photos in this post is of polar bear fur. One feel of it will make you realize those bears are well equipped for extreme cold and wet.
Very worthwhile little museum.
As usual, we hit the grocery for stuff for dinner and breakfast. I have a small piece of smoked whale, salad greens, rice cakes, nacho cheese sauce and a local beer.
Cheers
My report on the smoked whale I had for dinner. It didn’t require cooking. It did have a smoky taste but I can’t think of anything it tastes like. The meat was firm and deep, deep red, almost black. It was good to try at least.
Cheers
PS Yes, I finished it
