Continued north along the western Greenland coast to Nuuk. We arrived at the harbor around 7 AM. At 9 we went on a six hour boat trip into the fiords east of Nuuk for sightseeing, fishing and to a small settlement where our caught fish were cleaned and cooked. The settlement’s name is Igdlunguaq.
The scenery was stunning with jagged snow capped mountains rising like Earth’s fangs. Icebergs and ice floes sometimes filled the fiords.
We motored up the fiord about 35 minutes to a waterfall and then started fishing. No sooner had the artificial lure hit the bottom than either a golden red fish or a cod took the bait and was on the hook.
Between the dozen people on the boat we caught about two dozen fish in about 20-30 minutes. Then, we went to the small settlement where cooks at a restaurant cleaned and cooked the fish adding some sides of rice, potatoes, soup, bread and sauces. Best meal on this trip.
Then, we slowly made our way back by boat to Nuuk. Great day trip.
