Sept 13, 2025 – Bayanzag, Mongolia
The tour drove to the famous Flaming Cliffs area in the Gobi today. This is where lots of dinosaur bones, fossilized eggs, even whole skeletons have been found. It’s the site where eggs were first found resulting in the realization that dinosaurs laid eggs and weren’t born like mammals. There is a museum displaying some…

Sept 11, 2025 – Khongoryn Els, Mongolia
Lot of driving yesterday, deeper into the Gobi Desert in southern Mongolia. There’s a strip of sand dunes up to 900 feet tall stretching 180 km with a width of about 5 km. We climbed one, or tried to. We were loaned sleds to slide down. Great views. Cheers

Sept 10, 2025 – Yolyn Am, Mongolia
Drove farther south into the Gobi Desert today. Long driving day putting in about 300 miles. The landscape kept getting drier and drier and the wind blew harder. Staying at a ger camp with kinda warm showers and clean bathrooms. Unexpectedly nice. Cheers

Sept 9, 2025 – Ulaanbaatar to Baga Gadzrïn Chuluu, Mongolia
Today, drove into the Middle Gobi. The steppe around Ulaanbaatar became clumpy grass and bare ground. Sheep, goats and horses made the most of it. Some of the route was rocky roads, some roads more like stone filled ditches. Visited an important Buddhist monastery built after the previous one was almost completely destroyed by the…

Sept 7, 2025 – Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
There are several really good museums in Ulaanbaatar. The National Museum of Mongolia, the Natural History Museum of Mongolia and Choijin Lama Temple Museum were three we visited today. I think one museum a day is enough but these museums weren’t big. All gave good insight into Mongolia. Hope to visit the Chingis Khan Museum…

Sept 6, 2025 – Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Arrived in Ulaanbaatar, took my prearranged ride to the hotel and then my buddy, Lee Gilbert , who arrived a few hours earlier, said let’s go to the Chengis Khan statue an hour and a half away. So, we did. Out in the countryside, the statue towers above the grassland, known as the steppe. The…

Sept 5, 2025 – Travel to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
On my way to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. In Seoul after a 15+ hour flight from Atlanta. Man it was long. Going to be on a tour of Mongolia for two weeks. Just a four hour layover here and a three hour flight to Mongolia’s capital. The Mongol hordes await. Saddle up. Photos below taken in Incheon,…

May 21, 2025 – Budapest, Hungary
Final photos from Budapest. Instead of going by train to Bratislava and Prague, going home tomorrow. A tornado caused a lot of damage in my neighborhood, mainly by snapping and knocking down trees which blocked roads, tore down power lines and damaged roofs. So, even though my sister checked my house and it’s okay the…

May 20, 2025 – Budapest, Hungary
Photos from around Budapest. Today I mastered the Metro and the Hungarian language. No, no I didn’t master Hungarian. The public transportation is very good. It’s not difficult. You don’t need to walk far. Cheers Hungarian food is good, especially if you like paprika. These photos are from lunch and dinner. The soup is goulash.…
